AgCenter participates in first-ever international conference on global food security

Several members of the AgCenter team attended the First International Conference on Global Food Security, held on September 29 – October 2 in The Netherlands. Cheryl Palm was on the scientific advisory committee, while Roseline Remans had two oral presentations  — “Nutrient gaps in changing food systems in rural Africa” and “Measuring nutritional diversity of national food supplies,” and Hope Michelson had an oral presentation – “When the subsidies end – food security and small farmer fertilizer use in Sub-Saharan Africa.” Generose Nziguheba had a poster presentation – “Postharvest management and implication on maize grain losses in farming communities of Ruhiira, Western Uganda.” Jessica Fanzo from the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development and the Institute of Human Nutrition/Department of Pediatrics was a keynote speaker.
