Model Applications for Understanding and Managing the Nitrogen Cycle in African Landscape

On September 30, 2010, the TropAg Program hosted a workshop entitled “Model Applications for Understanding and Managing the Nitrogen Cycle in the African Landscape.” The workshop brought together an international group of researchers working on nitrogen, agriculture, and the environment at a number of scales, with the intention of improving our understanding of the biogeochemical and crop models being applied in sub-Saharan Africa. During the two-day workshop, participants identified and evaluated useful modeling tools and applications for science and decision support in Africa and forged collaborations that continued through working groups and grant proposals that could be linked to existing partners in Africa.
