Soils Information from the Satellite to the Cellphone

On September 21-22, 2010, the TropAg Program and CIESIN co-hosted a workshop entitled “Making Soil Information Widely Available: From the Satellite to the Cellphone.” Approximately 30 scientists and information technologists – from the Earth Institute, Google.org, NASA, the NRCS, and others – met to articulate the steps required to build a state-of-the-art soil monitoring system and link the digital soil mapping community to upcoming Earth observing missions and application development.
