AgCenter expertise on global food security

The AgCenter and Earth Institute were well represented at the recent Second International Conference on Global Security, which was held at Cornell University on October 11-14.  Read here for a summary of the conference. Cheryl Palm, Research Director, was the co-chair of this large international conference, which over 600 participants from over 60 countries to discuss and present research on the multiple dimensions of food security. Pedro Sanchez, Director, presented on agricultural growth in Africa, and Anna Herforth, Adjunct Associate Research Scientist, presented on the food environment. Clare Sullivan, Deputy Director of Research, and Cheryl Palm, had a poster at the conference on treeplanting programs in Africa. Alison Rose, Manager of Research Programs, also attended the conference. The Earth Institute had many representatives at the event, with presentations and posters at the event and representation on the Junior Researcher Task Force, which was responsible for promoting the conference through social media. Francesco Fiondella, Senior Communications Officer from IRI, provided training to the Junior Researcher Task Force on using social media to communicate about science.
